Branding

Corporate branding is the single most important area of creating a business, the method by which your clients recognise you. Our aim here is not to sell the virtues of clever corporate branding but more to show how we approach it.

One of the most commons mistakes made by most businesses is that they tend to view their website as a strange and detached object to their business. In reality any company website that has been built correctly will be seen by far more people than your normal corporate marketing materials like magazines, letterheads, business cards, point of sale and so forth.

Thus, we approach corporate branding with the website first and then work back through the rest of your marketing materials. In other words we design your corporate branding theme to look good on the web first taking into consideration the restrictions presented by both the web technology and secondly the computer systems themselves. For example when using specific colours for a corporate logo design you have to consider what it will reproduce like on various computer monitors and laptops screens. You have to think about how your corporate logo and colour scheme will appear on iPads, iPhones and so forth.

With this in mind it is best to design your corporate branding with colours that reproduce the way you want on various acreens and PDA's avoiding the over complicated designs and complex line drawings that will vanish on small or older screens etc.

An example of our approach to branding design is the 'CPC' logo above. This was for a charity supporting Cerebral Palsy sufferers. The image needed to stand out so the limited use of red was applied with the image slightly resembling a wheelchair in its shape with the large red 'C' being the back wheel of the chair. In addition to the main logo the charity wanted a child friendly logo designed for their 'Smiley Steps' day centre. Our approach was to create a pair of smiling feet. This was a success and made it very easy to create corporate merchandise that would sell due to the friendly and instantly recognisable image.
